Our Story

How we got here

First Encounter

2010

First Encounter

This was news for us too! Looking back at some of Dilshani's old dance videos, we realised we had shared the stage together without even knowing each other.

First Meeting

2012

First Meeting

We met through a mutual friend during our first year of high school. We got along really well, but being at two different schools made it really hard to keep in touch.

First "Date"

2016

First "Date"

Before Dilshani left for university in Dunedin we decided to catch up "one last time". Instead, we enjoyed spending time with each other so much that we became a couple six months later.

The Proposal

2023

The Proposal

On our first ever overseas trip, Danuka decided he wanted to pop the big question. With an ocean backdrop on the shores of Krabi, Thailand, Dilshani said yes.

Things to know

General information

  • Reception Venue

Our ceremony will be outdoors in the garden area, so expect fresh air, soft grass, and lots of golden hour glow. It can get quite hot outdoors, so make sure to be well prepared for this.

  • Dress Code

Formal / traditional attire. We would recommend floor length dresses / cocktail attire for the ladies, and the gents are welcome to wear formal black tie attire. Guests are welcome to wear Sri Lankan traditional clothing if they would like to embrace the local culture. For the ladies you can wear an Osari or Saree, and the gents would wear a National. Lightweight fabrics are recommended due to the hot climate.

  • When to arrive

We kindly encourage guests to arrive by 4:30 PM so you can get seated, as the poruwa ceremony begins shortly after.

  • How to get there

There is plenty of parking located at the venue, so if you have your own vehicle you may park for free. We highly recommend ride share services like Uber and PickMe which operate in the area and are relatively affordable. We do not recommend taking a three wheeler as you may spoil your outfit.

  • Plus ones

We have a limited guest count, so if you want to bring a guest please let us know as early as possible!

  • Entering Sri Lanka

If you are coming from New Zealand and Australia, it's most likely that you'll need an E-Visa. We recommend you arrange this at least 3 months prior to arriving in Sri Lanka.
